This is to inform you that the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament is looking for a full-time social media officer (fixed-term contractual agent position for at least two years renewable, function group III).

The Communication Strategy Unit of the Greens/EFA group seeks an enthusiastic social media expert to join the team, and assist in developing new tools, messaging and new approaches for the group’s digital communication via social media channels.
This role involves assisting in the managing and developing the social media accounts of the group (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), as well as potentially developing new ones in keeping with a changing digital environment.
We are looking for an excellent communicator, able to work on a variety of topics in a fast pacing environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills and ability to develop messages for different audiences. The person will be able to work on different messages, adapting content specifically for each social network and different audiences in various countries.
The role also involves gathering, testing and analysing information about how our content is perceived and digested, as well as on monitoring our audience engagement to ensure that the messages we share are not simply being read but are actually making an impact. The data created will feed into the group’s overall political and communication strategy. Creating visual and multimedia content through graphic design, photo- and video-editing software is also a sought after asset to assist in the development and implementation of visual identity to better target the Group audiences.
Tasks to be performed:
Assisting in the management of the group’s social media accounts
Develop compelling messaging, stories and relatable content for different audiences and campaigns for our digital channels
Ensure the group’s visual identity on social media is respected
Assist in developing visuals and video content for our social media communication together with the audio-visual team
Optimising the group’s social media communication by using analytics to indicate the best times and ways to create and share posts
Analysing the interaction of our online and offline content with the target audience, allowing us to see what works and what does not, who engages and who does not, etc. Includes website analytics, social media analysis, offline networking and surveying, etc.
Maximising advertising potential for group messages (boosting of posts, geo-targeted posts/banners, search engine optimisation, etc…)
Following trends and new technologies in the social media area and identify what could be useful to use for the group
Qualifications, experience and desired skills requested:
Work experience of 2 years or more;
Excellent communication skills, with experience in messaging and storytelling in the digital sphere
Very good knowledge of English and of at least one other EU language
At least 2 years professional experience in communication / social media
Experience in digital communication within international organisations would be an asset (including creative agencies, governmental or non-governmental organisations, or other.)
Active social media user and keen experimenter of digital communication channels and strategies
Experience of building online communities
Skills in social media monitoring and reporting
Excellent written, verbal, and technical skills
Ability to think about the bigger picture while communicating to both large and dedicated audiences
Fast and precise working style and a high degree of flexibility
Familiarity with the Green/EFA Group’s values, positions and public presentation;
Excellent analysis skills and a proven record of strategic planning and creative-development, including the design and implementation of multiple projects at once;
Excellent communication skills, the ability to be self-motivated and a stress-resistant team player
Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple requests and projects at the same time
Very good writing skills and knowledge of organisational methodology
Open-mindedness, communicative attitude and experience in working in a multi-cultural team;
Ability to problem-solve, with an emphasis on creativity and brainstorming new ideas;
Being a team-player and ready to work flexible hours, including work-related travel.

Knowledge and/or experience in audio-visual and/or website design/management

Knowledge of other official languages of the European Union, in particular French or German
Knowledge of the European institutions, EU legislation and decision-making process
